t was in 1989. I had been watching the movie "Beaches" with my stepdaughters. 
When it was over, Kandi looked at me and said, "Can you believe it, Bette Midler can really sing!!!" 
She was absolutely incredulous when she said it. 
I was absolutely speechless.
